Position Overview:

As a Science Teacher for KS3 & KS4 at SMART Global Academy, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality online science lessons that engage students and foster a deep understanding of scientific concepts. You will teach a range of topics across biology, chemistry, and physics, following the national curriculum. This role requires a creative and enthusiastic educator who can effectively teach students through a virtual platform, using technology to make learning interactive and accessible.

You will also be responsible for assessing student progress, providing feedback, and supporting students to achieve their academic goals. The ideal candidate will have strong subject knowledge, experience teaching online or in a traditional classroom, and a passion for helping students succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching and Lesson Delivery:
    • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive online lessons for KS3 and KS4 Science, covering topics in biology, chemistry, and physics.
    • Ensure lessons are aligned with the national curriculum and meet the needs of all students, including those with diverse learning styles.
    • Use a variety of digital tools and resources to create an immersive and effective learning experience.
  2. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Design and administer regular assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their work and performance.
    • Track student progress, identifying areas where additional support or intervention is needed.
  3. Curriculum Development:
    • Collaborate with the Curriculum Leader and other Science teachers to develop and refine curriculum materials.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the science curriculum, ensuring it is current, engaging, and reflective of best practices in science education.
  4. Student Support:
    • Provide individual support and guidance to students who require additional help, ensuring all students are challenged and supported to reach their full potential.
    • Organize and conduct virtual science tutorials or study groups when necessary.
  5. Parental Engagement and Communication:
    • Maintain open and regular communication with parents, providing updates on student progress and responding to any concerns or queries.
    • Participate in parent-teacher meetings or virtual conferences to discuss student performance and areas for improvement.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Stay updated on the latest educational technologies and pedagogical trends, especially in the field of online education.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the wider academic community within SMART Global Academy.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialization in Science.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (biology, chemistry, physics, or a general science degree); Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 level (online teaching experience preferred but not essential).
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for science and an ability to adapt materials for online learning.
  • Proficient in using virtual learning platforms and digital tools for education.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a passion for helping students succeed in a remote environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative teaching team.
