Position Overview:
As the Secondary Curriculum Leader – Key Stage 3 (KS3), you will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing the development and delivery of the KS3 curriculum. You will be responsible for ensuring that the curriculum is innovative, engaging, and aligned with national education standards. Your focus will be on providing a high-quality educational experience that supports students’ academic growth and prepares them for further studies in KS4.
In this role, you will work closely with subject teachers, senior leadership, and administrative staff to ensure smooth curriculum operations. You will also provide support and guidance to KS3 teachers and act as a key point of contact for parents and students when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Management:
• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the KS3 curriculum, ensuring it meets national standards and aligns with the academy’s vision.
• Ensure that all curriculum content is engaging, relevant, and prepares students for transition to KS4.
• Collaborate with subject teachers to ensure that learning objectives are clear, challenging, and differentiated to meet the diverse needs of students.. - Curriculum Quality Assurance:
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the KS3 curriculum through student outcomes, assessments, and teacher feedback
• Ensure consistency and alignment in the delivery of the curriculum across all KS3 subjects.
• Update and refine curriculum content based on educational trends, data analysis, and feedback from stakeholders. - Teacher Support and Development:
• Provide guidance and support to KS3 teachers, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to deliver the curriculum effectively.
• Conduct regular meetings with subject teachers to discuss curriculum implementation, share best practices, and address any challenges.
• Assist in planning and delivering professional development opportunities for KS3 teachers. - Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
• Oversee the assessment framework for KS3 students, ensuring assessments are meaningful, challenging, and aligned with the curriculum.
• Analyze student performance data to identify areas of improvement and work with teachers to implement targeted interventions.
• Ensure that students receive timely feedback on their progress and that parents are regularly updated on their child’s achievements. - Parental Engagement and Communication:
• Act as a point of contact for KS3 parents, addressing any curriculum-related concerns and facilitating meetings when needed.
• Provide parents with regular updates on curriculum changes, student progress, and upcoming assessments. - Collaboration with Leadership Team:
• Work closely with senior leadership to ensure that the KS3 curriculum aligns with the school’s broader educational goals and vision.
• Contribute to strategic planning discussions regarding curriculum development, student progress, and school growth.
• Support the leadership team in implementing any school-wide initiatives that affect KS3 students.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a strong background in secondary education.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or Education (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in curriculum development and leadership at the KS3 level.
- Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and current educational practices.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and support teachers.
- Experience in online or remote education is a plus but not essential.
